SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Syracuse resident GKM rallied support for the Democratic Party by handing out voting slates Tuesday.
GKM, founder of the Homeless-Housing Empowerment Platform (HHEP), handed out slates listing Democratic candidates at the Beauchamp Branch Library polling location.
“And if we don’t put the right people in position, then it could be catastrophic for us,” GKM said. “Look at the top. I don’t know if you for Donald Trump, but anybody can see he’s the wrong guy. If they can’t, they’re blind.”
GKM believes voting is an essential part of American democracy.
“It’s important to vote because that’s where, especially today, that’s where our power is to get things properly done,” GKM said.
With several Democratic candidates on the ballot, GKM handed out slates to anyone who would take them. Candidates on the list include Gov. Kathy Hochul and Charlene Tarver.
GKM set up his chair and slates at about 2 p.m. and planned to stay until the polls closed at 7 p.m.

GKM: And if we don’t put the right people in position, then it could be, catastrophic for us. Like at the top of the uh, Donald J. Trump. I don’t know if you for him or not, but I know that if anybody can’t see that he’s the wrong guy in position of the presidency, then they’re blind.
Riecken: And as the founder of Homeless-Housing Empowerment Platform, GKM believes voting is an essential part of American democracy.
GKM: Oh yeah its important to vote because that’s where our — today especially that’s where our power is in order to get things properly done.
Riecken: But for him, it’s not just about casting a ballot. It’s also about making sure that the people overseeing the election process uphold the law.
GKM: You know, so should voting be hard? I don’t think it should be hard, but should it be just and legal? Well, that all depends. We got to be careful when we say legal, because legal to one people is another thing, and to another people it’s another thing.
Riecken: And as the evening rush approaches, GKM says his work isn’t about personal recognition.
GKM: My pay? My pay and my reward is seeing the success.
