While Mount Marapi is one of the most active Volcanoes in Indonesia, it is far from alone. The country is located in the Pacific region known as the Ring of Fire and has 127 active volcanoes.
Indonesian officials have already began rescue efforts despite the active nature of the volcano. 40 rescuers were reportedly on the mountain as eruptions continue to occur.
Thus far 75 civilians and climbers have been evacuated. The province of West Sumarta, meanwhile, finds itself under a blanket of Volcanic ash.
