Jasmine Trenchfield: Shirt World, the go-to spot for game day gear here at Syracuse University is closing its doors. Shirt World owner, Dave Jacobs shares what the future will hold for Shirt World and businesses moving in on Marshall Street.
Dave Jacobs: “It’s going to be, I should say, quite unique. The university is buying up most of the properties.”
“At one point they probably will buy the whole area, which is wonderful.”
Trenchfield: SU student and store regular, Emma Kasegrande says that she isn’t sure what the future will hold for businesses on Marshall Street.
Kasegrande: “Dave and his wife will really be family to me, but honestly I don’t even know what to expect on Marshall Street. I just feel like it does need a revamping of just like a whole new set of stores.”

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — The store with all our favorite Syracuse University merchandise will be coming to a close. Marshall Street business Shirt World will be closing next week, but what does the future hold for future businesses on Marshall Street?
Shirt World owner Dave Jacobs said that he is positive the future is bright for Marshall Street businesses.
“It’s going to be, I should say, quite unique,” Jacobs said.
“What kept us going is the students and the university area, but mostly students, the community in Central New York has just been one exciting dream for us,” he said.
The closing of Shirt World leaves many customers speculating about what the future may hold for businesses on Marshall Street. Loyal customer and SU student Emma Kasegrande shared her thoughts.
“Dave and his wife will really be family to me, but honestly I don’t even know what to expect on Marshall Street. I just feel like it does need a revamping of just like a whole new set of stores,” Kasegrande said.
As Shirt World prepares to close, questions about what new businesses are moving in continue.
