Matea Kanicki, Reporter: The 2024-2025 hockey season has come and gone. A building once filled will screaming fans and royal blue jerseys will remain empty and wait patiently for the new season come October. but the Upstate Medical University Arena opened its doors once more to bring in Syracuse Crunch fans for their annual garage sale.

Megan Cahill, Crunch Vice President of Communications and Digtial Media: Everybody loves the garage sale. The season ends and it’s sad for a little bit but everyone asks when the garage sale is.

Kanicki: Crunch fans had the opportunity to shop for merchandise and novelty items from the 24-25 season, as well as previous seasons. Items included anything from T-shirts to glassware to trading cards and so much more. But the items for sale didn’t stop there. New and used player equipment was also up for grabs that can still be used on the ice.

Cahill: Everyone loves collecting the jersey’s and game issues equipment. it’s pretty cool to show up to an adult league where you’re using a professional hockey player’s pants or skates or stick so i think everyone really enjoys having it in the summer.

Kanicki: Whether you’re hunting for hidden treasures or just want to show your support, this is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow fans and feel apart of the team.

Cahill: We have people that are bringing their friends and family or kids to the garage sale who may not be hockey fans or may have not been to a crunch game but they think its cool to have access to this kind of stuff.”

Kanicki: The garage sale is more than just a shopping opportunity, it’s a celebration of the season. The garage sale will be open until 7pm tonight so come on down and get your Crunch merchandise. The team will be back in action on October 18th for their home opener. From downtown Syracuse, Matea Kanicki, NCC News.

SYRACUSE, NY (NCC News) – The hockey season has come to an end and the ice has been removed from the Upstate Medical University Arena after a playoff run season for the Syracuse Crunch. The building will remain quiet and Crunch fans will wait patiently for the new season to begin come October.

As summer began, the Crunch had one more special occasion to welcome their fans back to the arena one last time before next season. The annual garage sale is a shopping event that allows Crunch fans to buy from merchandise and novelty items from the 2024-2025 and previous seasons.

The sale also gives fans a chance to see the arena from a different perspective, right from center ice.

“We hold the garage sale on the arena floor,” said Cahill. “There’s not many people who get the opportunity to stand at center ice in the arena and experience that.”

Whether the fans were hunting for hidden treasures or just wanted to show their support, the garage sale was the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow fans and feel a part of the team.

“We have people that are bringing their friends and family or kids to the garage sale who may not be hockey fans or may have not been to a Crunch game but they think it’s cool to have access to this kind of stuff,” said Cahill.
