Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News)- The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will host a public information meeting for the proposed bridge replacement project carrying Interstate 81 over U.S. Route 11 in the Hamlet of Nedrow in the Town of Onondaga, Onondaga County.

The “informal, open-house” style meeting will be held on March 5th from 4-6p.m. at the Nedrow Fire Station, 6505 South Salina Street, Nedrow, NY 13120.

The project plans will be available for review and NYSDOT representatives will be available to answer questions. This informal meeting is part of NYSDOT’s ongoing efforts to encourage public participation in transportation project development.

The project proposal involves replacing the four-span bridges constructed in 1962, which currently carry Interstate 81’s northbound and southbound lanes over U.S. Route 11, with new single-span steel bridges that maintain the existing alignment.

The new bridges will feature two 12-foot travel lanes and widened shoulders to improve safety and efficiency for legal loads traveling between Onondaga and Courtland County.

To maintain the flow of traffic during construction, a temporary two-lane structure will be built on-site, situated between the northbound and southbound bridges.

The project is in the initial design phase, with construction expected to begin in 2026.
