SYRACUSE N.Y. (NCC News) — In March, NASA’s SpaceX Crew-8 began their mission launching into outer space. The mission was scheduled to conclude on Monday, Oct. 21, as the crew was set to splashdown off the coast of Florida.

However, this process has been delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions in Florida. Mission managers and officials at NASA are closely monitoring the forecast.

If the weather were to improve, the undocking process could take place as soon as Tuesday, Oct. 22. This is a likely scenario as weather conditions are expected to improve throughout the week.

Even with the delay, the Crew-8 members continued their daily routines at the International Space Station. This consists of exercise along with chores. The crew also has a newly adjusted sleep schedule because of their departure.

This isn’t the only delay the astronauts faced during this experience as they were originally supposed to leave the space station during the summer. They had to stay back due to Boeing’s failed crewed test flight and because of Hurricane Milton.

The crew will be given an update and further instruction during a brief meeting set to take place on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
