CNY ice cream shops are taking different approaches to the colder temperatures setting in. Big Dip located in North Syracuse is closing this week, while another Syracuse favorite Gannons Ice Cream while remain open until around December 23.

Reporter:Fall has officially hit Central New York and with that a beloved ice cream shop, Big Dip, in North Syracuse, will be closing for the season this week. It’s a colder week to close following last week’s record setting warm temperatures, Big Dip owner, Peter Penizotto, says the warm spell helped business.
Peter Penizotto: “That’s all you need. A few good days to make up for five or six bad days.”
Reporter: If you’re still craving a nice scoop of ice cream don’t worry because Gannons Ice Cream has you covered. Gannons manager, Jonathan Kinane says they keep the customers coming by tailoring to seasonal flavors.
Jonathan Kinane:”We have a hot apple sundae, we have fall flavors like pumpkin and apple crisp and we do like holiday themed flavors as that gets closer.”
