SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)— In 2024, the Central New York Diaper Bank distributed over 2 million diapers by partnering with local agencies. These constant numbers allowed the CNY Diaper Bank to become the largest diaper bank in the state of New York.
Melissa Grabowski, the program coordinator at the CNY Diaper Bank, says the mission of the organization is to serve as many low-income families as possible with the help they need. Sometimes, that goes beyond simply financial help.
“A crying baby is stressful to everyone, and a crying baby is under stress. During those emotional development years, it’s critical to make sure that the baby’s as happy, cared for, and loved as possible. Believe it or not, a baby in a wet diaper who doesn’t have enough diaper changes impacts the child, and it streamlines down to the family as well,” says Grabowski.
By providing families with this “basic human need,” Grabowski said she feels like she is giving back to her community.
According to the CNY Diaper Bank, their distribution of diapers helps to significantly reduce stress in families and create healthier environments for babies.
This year, the CNY Diaper Bank is on track to sell more than 2 million diapers. For more information or to donate, visit cnydiaperbank.org.
