SYRACUSE – NY – Many events are happening at Syracuse University, where many notable guests are being brought to campus and many may begin to question Why?
The reason is that this week at Syracuse University is Pride Week, a week held to acknowledge, and celebrate those who identify as LGBTQ or other. Several students look forward to weeks as such. Today at Bird Library, a library on the Campus of Syracuse University is a Queer Research Symposium. Undergraduate and Graduate students from Syracuse University and Suny- ESF are doing poster presentations on the research they have done on LGBTQ subjects and issues. Margo Moram, Suny ESF student, speaks to why this week is important but most importantly this event.
“Queer Spaces are so important, I think having a space where your queerness is celebrated and considered something so special about you and being able to also celebrate other queer researchers is so important in building that sense of community”
This event sole purpose was held to show that we tend to get so fixated on ones sexuality that we tend to neglect their intellect. Any one in that space would have been blown away topics of research each student presented on.
Everyone in attendance should have taken away what Audre Lorde said best: It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences.
If you are in the Syracuse area or a student that attends Syracuse University, you are encouraged to stop by and make the time to attend one of the events this week.

Thank you, Tien, I am here outside of the bird library on the campus of Syracuse University. This week students and faculty are celebrating Pride Week, a week held to acknowledge and celebrate those who identify as LGBTQ OR others. A week that is imperative to ensuring that Syracuse and the world at large make all feel welcomed and safe in being their true self. One of the events students have been anticipating is happening now.

If you were present not only could you feel the sense of community and support but would have been blown away by the information the students were teaching. Some of it could only be understood by experts

I mix some more reactants and quince it and you get these nanoparticles.

You probably aint understand not a word that she just said and maybe you shouldn’t. That was the whole purpose of the event today which was to show us that we often get so fixated on one’s sexuality that we neglect their intellengence.Audre Lorde said it best It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences. Here at Bird Library, I am Jordan Pierre, reporting for NCC News.
