MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (NCC News) — SUNY Morrisville went on lockdown Monday afternoon after reports of a shooting on campus.

Around 3:15 p.m., a man called police to report a man shot in South Hall, according to Madison County dispatchers. The school was promptly put on lockdown and a SWAT team was ordered to the site. A spokesperson from SUNY Morrisville has confirmed that it is not an active shooter threat.

A suspect was seen running from the building while a perimeter was being set up and the building was evacuated. The victim was found with a serious gunshot wound to the neck. They were set to be airlifted to Upstate Medical Hospital, however due to the weather, they are being taken via an ambulance.

New York State Governor, Kathy Hochul, released the following statement on X.

“I have been briefed on the shooting on campus at SUNY Morrisville. New York State Police are assisting local law enforcement and SUNY leadership as they respond to this situation. The campus remains on lockdown until further notice.”
