Narrator: Welcome to the first ever NCC News Open at Fairmount Glen Miniature Golf course. Our first and only group of the day will be Jonathan Kinane out of Syracuse, New York and Patrick Smith out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. These two outstanding gentlemen will be playing in a friendly 1 v 1 match of mini golf for 18 holes. First up, let’s hear on how these players are feeling today.
Jonathan Kinane: Ready for this butt kicking your about to take Patrick?
Patrick Smith: You know, I woke up this morning feeling fantastic. Coming in with a game plan, and you know I’m ready to get out there on the course and win this thing.
Kinane: I guess we’ll just have to see what happens. Best of luck.
Smith: Let’s go see it.
Narrator: Thanks guys. Now let’s see how the bots do.
Smith: It broke left
Kinane: Oh, look at that now.
Smith: Wow. (Ball hit) Wow.
Kinane: Uh oh. That’s a birdie.
Smith: Nice birdie. We’re going backhand for the first time.
Kinane: Why would he do that?
Smith: Cause we can make it.
Kinane: Oh, okay.
Smith: Come on.
Narrator: After the first hole, the boys were neck and neck going back and forth, but this happened on the fifth.
Smith: (Ball hit)
Kinane: Oh no he didn’t.
Smith: Give me that. Give me that. Give me that. Come on.
Kinane: Hole in one incoming. COME ON.
Narrator: Through the front 9. Jonathan had a three shot lead over Patrick.
Kinane: I mean, just look at what it did to him. You know, I go up first, I make the hole in one, then he makes a five on that hole.
Smith: Just can’t let one hole, you know, ruin the rest of the match. Just got to keep pushing forward.
Narrator: And Patrick did just that. Jonathan’s trash talk caught up to him on the back 9, as Patrick took the lead on the 12th hole.
Kinane: Nice 3.
Smith: Thank you.
Kinane: Go in.
Smith: I missed it.
Kinane: Oh no.
Narrator: This is where Patrick choked.
Kinane: Oh, down the false front.
Smith: Sit. Good match.
Kinane: Good match my friend.
Smith: Ok, I’m sweaty.
Kinane: Love you.
Smith: I hate you.
SYRACUSE, NY (NCC News) — The first ever NCC News Open was held on Saturday at Fairmount Glen miniature golf course. The only group of the day included graduate students Patrick Smith and Jonathan Kinane. Both students competed in a friendly 18-hole match of mini golf.
Both highly invested in the game of golf and battled it out for the first time ever. The match started off neck and neck with a birdie on the first hole then a few pars. On the 5th hole, Patrick made a hole-in-one taking a 1 shot lead over Jonathan, but it fell apart for Patrick on the 7th as Jonathan made a hole-in-one while Patrick made a 5, setting Jonathan up with a 3 shot lead heading into the 10th hole.
On the back 9, Patrick crawled back taking the lead on the 12th. But it was too much from there on, as Jonathan won the first NCC News Open at Fairmount Glen.
