CICERO, N.Y. (NCC News) – Driver’s Village in Cicero turned into a haven for dogs, all for a charitable cause on Dec. 2. Recycle-A-Bull Bully Breed Rescue, which rescues and rehomes dogs, hosted a unique fundraiser called “Santa Paws.”

The Santa Paws event serves as a crucial fundraiser, with all proceeds, including those from raffle baskets, going towards the care of rescued dogs.

“All our donations go back into the dogs that we currently have in rescue,” said the organization’s co-founder Dan Wise.

The event not only raises funds through local vendors and raffles, but also offers attendees, like Jennifer Walther and her dog Charley, a chance to capture special moments with Santa for a small donation.

Santa Paws goes beyond festive photos; it’s an opportunity to adopt dogs brought in from shelters such as Humane CNY. Kelly Vollmer, a volunteer, highlighted the event’s importance, providing a platform for potential adopters who might be hesitant to visit a shelter.

Recycle-A-Bull, being a foster-based rescue without a physical shelter, emphasizes the need for visibility.

“It’s important to get our name out there as a foster-based rescue. The more we’re advertised, the more we can get homes for different dogs,” Lauren Cussen, a volunteer, said.
