SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS)- The Edmonton Oilers have forced Game 7 against the Florida Panthers in the NHL playoffs. After trailing 3-0, the Oilers have won the last three matchups. The Oilers defeated the Panthers 5-1 in Game 6 at Rodgers Place in Edmonton.

Warren Foegele opened up scoring for the Oilers just three minutes into the first period. Leon Draisaitl set up Foegele off a quick rush. Edmonton doubled their lead just 46 seconds into the second period after catching the Panthers on a bad line change.  Mattias Janmark was left alone at the blue line creating a two-on-one with Adam Henrique. Henrique found the back of the net.

The third goal in the second period was off a breakaway from Zach Hyman. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins came up with a great block at the top of the zone. He kicked it to Hyman who was stuck in a foot race against Gustav Forsling.

Aleksander Barkov was the only Panther to put one on the board 1:28 into the third period.  Florida pulled goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky with under three and a half minutes left in regulation. Edmonton capitalized as Ryan McLeod  and Darnell Nurse hit two empty netters late in the third period to seal the deal for the Oilers.

The last time an NHL team won a playoff series after trailing 3-0 was the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1942. Puck drop for the Stanley Cup Final is set for 8 p.m. Monday at Amerant Bank Arena.
