Throughout the years UFO and extraterrestrial life has been the basis of many different conspiracy theories. While nothing outside of this world has been confirmed, many New York state citizens have reported sightings. (Department of Defense via AP)

Syracuse, N.Y. (NCC News) — A new report from the National UFO Reporting Center has ranked the state of New York as the fifth most likely state for alien sightings and abductions.

The National UFO Reporting Center has been keeping track and examining reports of UFO sightings around the globe since 1974.

Specifically in the state of New York, there have been a total of 6,152 reports over the 50+ years the Reporting Center has been keeping track. Most recently there was a report on March 14th in the city of Unadilla, NY, that there was a sphere in the area that a person noticed. They made sure to note that “there were no blinking lights” when talking about what they saw.

Looking closer at the data that was analyzed by Casino.ca, it said that there is one UFO sighting per 1,301 people in the state of New York. The reason that the casino decided to take a deeper look into the statistics was because of the fact that March 20th is ‘National Alien Abduction Day’.

As New York was ranked the 5th likely state, the four states that they fell behind included California, Washington, Florida and Oregon. California, the leader, has seen 16,732 entries from people claiming to have seen UFO sightings.

As ‘National Alien Abduction Day’ rolls around for Central New Yorkers, they will make sure to keep their eyes in the sky. As they never know, they might encounter a UFO in which they can add to the already thousands of sightings from New York State.
