NASHVILLE, T.N. (NCC News) — For the first time since Dec. 26, 2022, the Music City got some light snow. According to FOX Weather, this was ahead of schedule for Middle Tennessee. The average date for the first “measurable snowfall” in Nashville is Dec. 28. But on Monday, Dec. 2, the city saw a 1/4 inch dusting between 2pm and 10pm. No significant travel issues were caused as a result, but the presence of snow at all alludes to a couple cold fronts that Nashville has to deal with.
The National Weather Service expects back-to-back cold fronts to hit the city this week. Highs both Monday and today are only in the 30s. Even so, there’s only a 20% chance for snow showers tonight between 10pm and 11pm. While it will get back into the 50s Wednesday, a second cold front is set to drop temps to as low as 33 with a “shot of cold air” by the night. But no more snowfall is expected the rest of the week.
Nashville wasn’t the only major city in the Tennessee River Valley that saw snow this week. The same weather system provided St. Louis two snowfalls in three days. The state of Illinois also saw light snow on Monday, too.
