Lights on the Lake Doggie Drive Thru

TRANSCRIPT:

PATRICK SCANLON (REPORTER): ‘Twas the holiday season, and all through the park. All the creatueres with stirring, with dogs after dark.

Lights on the Lake, a Central New York winter staple, hosted a Doggy Drive Thru this week.

Benefits went to Humane CNY and Second Chance Adoption Shelter.

SANTA CLAUS: Ho ho ho.

SCANLON: Taylor Bitz, dog mom of Tesla and Tyson, loves how the lights get people in the holiday spirit.

TAYLOR BITZ: It’s the best thing, especially when there’s some snow on the ground because it just makes everyone happy, to be honest. I mean you can’t drive through here and be misrable, like it’s just so much better.”

SCANLON: Over 600,000 lights, with five different sections are available for riders to see. One even takes inspiration fron the Land of Oz.

The effort to put on such an event doesn’t go unnoticed by the local community.

MATTHEW CLARK: It’s just something different, you don’t see that. All the time and effort it takes to actually put it on. And then you see all the cars especially even on a Monday night, you still see people coming through here.

SCANLON: And those dreaming of a White Christmas and Holiday Season were in for a treat driving on the shores of Onondaga Lake.

CLARK: We were actually hoping it was going to be snowing. It was like, cool. And it’s a light snow, it’s not a blizzard. So you can still see everything, and it just adds to the holiday because after Christmas the snow can go away.

SCANLON: Looks like the snow may be here to stay in Central New York. And so are the Lights on the Lake, through January 13th. Until then a Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
