Jackson Breslin: It’s about 10 minutes until Curbbie Beauge takes the stage – but she’s not nervous

Curbbie Beauge: I think singing is where I express myself, and to be myself around those who I care or love about, and very, like, supportive.

Breslin: Curbbie isn’t new to performing – but her journey hasn’t always been easy.

Beauge: It’s been a long road for me, I’ve had some ups and downs, but I came out stronger.”

Breslin: She’s apart of LAUNCH CNY – an organization focused on supporting people with developmental disabilities. Tonight – it’s the third annual “LAUNCHing Our Talents” talent show – pushing them out of their comfort zones and into the spotlight

Kaitlyn Totten: We have clients who started with us, similar to Curbbie, three years ago who were so shy and had trouble even having conversations with one person, one on one, and to see them get up on a stage and perform and not be afraid, it’s such a beautiful thing.

Breslin: The show isn’t just about the performances themselves – it also serves as an opportunity to show launch’s work to all of Syracuse.

Chelsea Lembo: This is an opportunity for us to invite everyone in to see what we do, and to support all of the talent that we have as part of our community.

Breslin: That talent was on full display when the clock hit five – and Curbbie took the stage – ready as ever.

Beauge: I am ready for love.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) – The clock ticked forward, about 10 minutes to showtime. Waiting in the wings, Curbbie Beauge stood silently, the moment not phasing her.

“I think singing is where I express myself, and to be myself around those who I care or love about,” she said.

Beauge has performed since she was a child. Along the way, despite bumps and difficulties, she kept her passion.

“It’s been a long road for me,” said Beauge. “I’ve had some ups and downs, but I came out stronger.”

Beauge is a part of LAUNCH CNY, an organization focused on supporting people with developmental disabilities. On this night, the third annual “LAUNCHing Our Talents” talent show pushed participants out of their comfort zones and into the spotlight.

In the back of the dimly lit theater, LAUNCH’s Interim Executive Director, Kaitlyn Totten, sat reflecting on how the show provided space to celebrate the progress some of the participants made.

“We have clients who started with us, similar to Curbbie, three years ago who were so shy and had trouble even having conversations with one person, one on one, and to see them get up on a stage and perform and not be afraid, it’s such a beautiful thing,” said Totten.

The show isn’t just about the performances themselves; it also serves as an opportunity to show LAUNCH’s work to all of Syracuse.

“This is an opportunity for us to invite everyone in to see what we do, and to support all of the talent that we have as part of our community,” said Employment Services Manager Chelsea Lembo.

That talent was on full display throughout the show, with poetry, dancing and singing – none more powerful than when Beauge took the stage.

Ready as ever.
