SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — La Casita, a local establishment, aids in educating children. It provides a community-based environment open to children of all ages. At its core, La Casita’s mission involves a program designed to offer support to families in need, alongside a diverse array of educational opportunities for children.

Beyond traditional academic subjects, children participating in La Casita’s program dive into the arts, music, and languages. However, the educational initiatives at La Casita transcend more than entertainment. Parents are happy to know their children are embracing diverse cultures, languages, and the importance of community involvement.

Mike Sun, father of Bella Pagan, shared his appreciation for the program’s diverse curriculum. “It allowed us to sort of learn about things we wouldn’t have otherwise,” said Sun. “For example, they are taking classes in violin, drawing, and dance. These are classes that probably wouldn’t have been accessible otherwise,” said Sun.

The teachers at La Casita support children’s talents and instilling valuable skills. Office coordinator Carrie Valenzuela said the inclusive environment fostered at La Casita is something you can’t find anywhere else. “We share our cultures, speak Spanish, share food, and engage in various activities that promote unity and creativity,” said Valenzuela.

At La Casita, individuals from all backgrounds are welcomed, regardless of their language proficiency. Amya Reevas, a participant learning to play the piano, described La Casita as a supportive environment for her success. “I’m truly grateful that we found this place because, before discovering it, my mom had been discussing her desire to enroll us in a program,” said Reevas

Ameera Reeves, Amya’s mother, discussed the many different opportunities available at La Casita, particularly for homeschooling families like theirs. “I’m very grateful for La Casita because I homeschool my children, so this is a perfect opportunity for them to be around kids, learn a little bit of Spanish, and play with instruments,” said Reeves.

As the current school year comes to a close, children enrolled in La Casita’s program have received certificates of completion, marking their achievements. La Casita looks forward to reopening its doors this fall, continuing its mission of empowering children through education and community engagement.
