Lindsay: Syracuse football, a local MMA gym and more. Welcome to NCC Sports, I’m Lindsay Arons. Big news for Syracuse football from this past week. Not only did the team defeat UNLV while they were ranked in the top 25, you’ll be seeing Kyle McCord on the shelves of your local grocery store. The ‘Cuse quarterback recently partnered with Terrell’s potato chips for a name, image and likeness, otherwise known as NIL deal.

Dave Meluni: Terrell’s is a local brand and it’s in the NIL world where we’re looking to bridge those partnerships with local partners. Terrell’s probably saw the success they had with the university in the past, and it was a perfect synergy for them.

Lindsay: No matter where the chips may fall for the rest of the season, McCord sure has himself a sweet NIL deal.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) – Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord is often seen on the football field of the JMA Wireless Dome. Now, he can also be found on the shelves of Central New York grocery stores. McCord announced on X that he recently signed an appetizing name, image and likeness deal.

“Excited to announce my partnership with Terrell’s Chips and Snack Fanatics with my own Honey BBQ/Sharp Cheddar Potato Chips! Get them all over the Upstate NY area at your favorite grocery and convenience stores, including Tops Supermarkets and soon at Wegmans,” said McCord.

Terrell’s Chips has a history of collaborating with Syracuse University according to Dave Meluni, a Syracuse University sport management professor. Meluni teaches NIL courses at SU and is also a board member for Orange United, an NIL brand that works with Syracuse University student athletes.

“A lot of folks may not know the history,” Meluni said. “The university did at one point with Terrell’s Potato Chips have these orange cheese curls. Now from an NIL standpoint, I’m assuming that Kyle had a flavor that he liked, and Terrell’s is a local brand. It’s in the NIL world where we’re really looking to bridge those partnerships with local partners. Terrell’s probably saw the success they had with the university in the past, and it was a perfect synergy for them.”
