SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — HumaneCNY, a local animal shelter in Central New York, has temporarily stopped meet and greets with cats and kittens due to an infection outbreak.
According to HumaneCNY, an upper respiratory infection is affecting most of the shelter’s feline residents.
The shelter told NCC News that the upper respiratory infection affects the animals’ eyes. But if it becomes severe, the animals could suffer breathing problems.
HumaneCNY posted on Instagram and Facebook on Monday.
“URGENT!!!! At this time, we are not allowing any meet and greets for cats or kittens!” the caption said.
If you’re interested in adopting a cat or kitten, you can submit your adoption application through HumaneCNY’s website.
The shelter will contact you to schedule a meet and greet once the outbreak is over.
HumaneCNY is a no-kill animal shelter that strives to find permanent homes for cats and dogs. The organization’s goal is to create a better community through kindness to animals.
