JAMESVILLE, N.Y. (NCC News)– Meet 26-year-old Jessica Jaworksi, a woman in Central New York who is always on the move – whether it’s tumbling on the gymnastics team, or performing on stage.
“She really sets an example and is super passionate about this sport,” said Lauren Tassini, Special Olympics team coach and CNY Centre owner.
Jessica’s energy and positivity in everything that she does shines everywhere she goes.
“She’s always been so supportive. And always so good with the people she’s around,” said Deb Cavanagh, founder of Front Row Players.
“It’s just who she is. It’s who she is,” said Cavanagh.
Front Row Players is an organization that nurtures adults of all abilities, like Jessica, passion to perform.
“You always want your actor to be able to show what they’re able to do on stage; if they’re all the way in the back they can’t do that,” said Cavanagh. “You know that they wanna be up front and center.”
Jessica is one of the original actors in Front Row Players. This year, they are putting on the musical A Dickens of a Christmas.
“When you see them up on stage, you see their abilities, you don’t see the disability,” Cavanagh said.
Whether it’s walking the beam, or practicing her songs on stage, there’s no note too high for Jessica’s abilities.
“She can do so much more than what we thought or what anyone thought,” said Scarlett Jaworkski, Jessica’s younger sister.
Jessica was born with an intellectual disability that stunts her learning. Growing up, she still did every activity imaginable to keep herself busy.
“I believe when I’m here I can be in the spotlight and do anything,” said Jessica.
Now, she has bigger dreams.
“My dream is to be on Broadway someday, or the voice!” said Jessica.
Jessica isn’t just a teammate or fellow actor, she’s a friend to everyone she meets.
“She’s my best friend,” said Dorothea Malinowski, Jessica’s teammate. “She has helped me through really sad times.”
While life always has its pivots and turns, Jessica is a prime example of making the most of what you’ve got.
“You can prepare your child for the road, but you can’t prepare the road for your child,” said Timothy Ranger, Front Row Player actor.
