SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Turning the clocks back means sunset will be coming early now that daylight saving time is over for the year. After turning the clocks back on Sunday, it will now be getting dark before 5 p.m. for much of the winter season.
While sunrise will be earlier in the morning, 6:43 a.m. on Monday, sunset will continue to get earlier in the day as well. Sunset will reach its earliest time in mid-December when the sun will set before 4:30 p.m. in Central New York.
Daylight saving time is the practice of moving the clocks forward during the warmer months to make use of the extended daylight during the season.
Daylight saving time for next year will begin on March 9, 2025 when we will move the clocks forward to make daylight last longer each day.
