SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — The Syracuse Common Council approved on Monday the start of a $26 million road reconstruction program scheduled to take place throughout 2025-26. According to the city government’s website, the Department of Public Works will immediately begin to improve roads marked as “Schedule A,” with room to include other areas if necessary.

The roads listed out by the council stretch all across the city, which means this program will impact many locals by the time work is scheduled to be completed by the end of next year.

On the north side of Syracuse, over 20 roads are scheduled to have reconstruction on certain stretches, including parts of Griffiths, Burnet, Pond, and Carbon Street.

On the south side, over a dozen roads are marked for improvements, including parts of S. Salina, Montgomery, Oakwood, and Bennigton Drive.

On the east side, 20 roads are listed for construction, including parts of Sumner, Lancaster, Broad, and Salt Springs Road.

Finally, on the west side, over a dozen roads are scheduled for improvements, including parts of Willis, Lakeview, W. Onondaga, and Madison.

A full list of the streets marked for construction is available in the Common Council’s March 3 Agenda Book at syr.gov.
