CLAY, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) — Short lines and no school for many elementary schools has led voters to bring their children to the polls this morning.

Steve Ganetis, a Central New York resident, brought his son, Luke, with him to the polls late Tuesday morning.

“We’re going to be voting,” said Ganetis. “Showing the kid how the ol’ electoral college works.”

Ganetis said voting in elections is his civic duty, and he votes whenever he gets the chance to. He hopes that message translates to his son.

“I’ve been talking to him about it,” said Ganetis. “He keeps saying boat instead of vote, so I think he has no idea what’s about to happen.”

Even if they’re voting instead of boating, the town of Clay tries to offer their residents smooth sailing at the polls.
