Snow and heavy wind gusts are making temperatures even colder for those in Central New York.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Syracuse is experiencing frigid temperatures after a massive snowstorm dumped over a foot of snow to parts of the region. The temperature plunged well below freezing. When factoring in the biting wind chill, it feels even colder, with temperatures in the teens.

This bone-chilling cold is making outdoor activities extremely uncomfortable and potentially dangerous. Authorities are advising extreme caution when going outside, as slippery conditions increase the risk of accidents and injuries.

Several local schools and businesses are closed for the day, prioritizing the safety of students, employees, and customers. For those who have to go outside, bundling up in layers is essential. Thick coats, scarves, hats, and gloves are a must.

This Arctic blast isn’t limited to Syracuse alone; the entire CNY region is feeling the effects of the deep freeze. From Rochester to Buffalo, Albany to Utica, communities across upstate New York are dealing with freezing cold and icy conditions.

But the snow should die down over the next week. Next week’s temperatures will each reach a high of 60°F.
