SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) — The community came together with passion and purpose at the annual Aiming Fore the Cure golf tournament in Marcellus, rallying behind the Baldwin Fund’s mission.

The Baldwin Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing breast cancer research, partnered with the Tuscarora Golf Club.

With donations pouring in, silent auctions bustling, and golf in full swing, the event’s goal was to raise as much money as possible for the Baldwin Fund.

David Bird, the president of the Baldwin Fund, said the organization is committed to hosting such events, aiming to one day find a cure for breast cancer.

“It brings everyone together on a beautiful course here at Tuscarora and it helps raise money and awareness for breast cancer,” said Bird. “All the money that is raised here all goes back to fund breast cancer research at Upstate University.”

Among the golfers stood Greg Boyer, embodying the spirit of support and enjoyment.

“It’s a very worthwhile cause that we’re happy to support. We get to play on a very pretty golf course. We love to play the course and it’s a beautiful day. It’s a trifecta,” said Boyer.

Rick McAllister, another golfer, said the event also serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection and research in the fight against breast cancer.

“I came here today to support the very fact that breast cancer has to be eradicated completely so we don’t have to do any more advertisements for it and so it all will be cured. That’s why I’m here — and to hit some golf balls in that direction,” said McAllister.

As the golfers finished making their last putts, the tournament concluded with a sense of purpose.

This special golf tournament wasn’t just about the swings and putts; it was about making strides towards a future free from the shadow of this disease.
