VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: Abstract video and digital glitch art is on display in Central New York
Rich Rosa: This moving piece of art is on display in downtown Syracuse. This isn’t your typical art where you use a paintbrush. This type of artwork requires a computer software that creates different animations and techniques. It takes three to six hours to complete one piece. At the City Center, visual artist Michael Calobrisi uses a video projector to present his abstract video and digital glitch art. He says his previous art and inspiration came from ’80s movies.
Michael Calobrisi: I’m a big ’80s kid. “Back to the Future” is my favorite movie. I’ve been imagining Michael J. Fox my whole life, and I think that’s important to say. I mean, this exact art hasn’t been taken from that, but just that whole retro time period, that’s so nostalgic.
Rosa: Calobrisi wants to enrich the Central New York community.
Calobrisi: I think there is a huge art community here in Syracuse that’s kind of untapped, a lot of unseen and seen artists here around the area. And I’m very lucky to be in a space like this in the city center, where I’m able to showcase my work.
Rosa: Calobrisi’s long-term goal is to showcase his art worldwide. If you want to see his work, email him to book an appointment. In Syracuse, Rich Rosa, NCC News.
