Izzy Sy: An abandoned mansion in Syracuse is getting new life thanks to InterFaith Works of Central New York. NCC News’ Cam McGraw joins us live from the newsroom to report on the building’s purpose.
Cam McGraw: Izzy, the crumbling mansion in Syracuse is being renovated to provide shelter for incoming refugees and people in need of housing. The property on Oak Street will offer affordable apartments on the upper floors and dedicated spaces for refugees on the ground level. InterFaith Works’ president Beth A. Broadway said the company strives to assist new refugees.
Beth A. Broadway: We have helped 37 people achieve their citizenship this year and expect to receive 895 new refugees.
McGraw: With the homeless population continuing to rise, Broadway said they are ready to make an impact.
Broadway: Our capacity is growing, and our services are expanding to meet the many needs of our community.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — A crumbling mansion in Syracuse is being renovated to provide shelter for incoming refugees and people in need of housing. The property on Oak Street will offer affordable apartments on the upper floors and dedicated spaces for refugees on the ground level.
InterFaith Works’ president Beth A. Broadway said the company strives to assist new refugees.
“We have helped 37 people achieve their citizenship this year and expect to receive 895 new refugees,” Broadway said.
