Genae Horst: Green flowers, Irish flags and other St. Patrick’s Day swag flood Syracuse’s very own, Salt City Market. Hoping to give residents a taste of Ireland, Salt City offers its customers Irish-themed merch to celebrate the green holiday. Coffee fanatic and Salt City customer, Layla Schuon says there’s nothing better than a holiday theme.

Layla Schuon: Absolutely, I think that, you know, everyone likes a fun holiday where you can dress up. There are traditions, so I think it’s a great way to draw in customers.

Horst: Even though celebrations have already taken place, the festivities continue on. Salt City Coffee’s third branch, located on University Avenue, reveals a celebratory Lucky Charms Cereal Milk Latte. If you’re feeling lucky today, you aren’t the only one. Because today, everyone can be Irish.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — On St. Patrick’s Day in Syracuse, everyone can be Irish. St. Patrick’s Day is Monday, March 17 this year and the lucky festivities have been underway for the last week and a half.

Central New York celebrates the green-tastic holiday starting with festivities like the St. Patty’s Day parade, green beer contests in Armory Square and more.

Salt City Market, one of downtown Syracuse’s most beloved destinations celebrates the shamrock fun with Irish themed merchandise. Avid coffee and market goers flood to the downtown location to take advantage of the holiday celebrations.

Layla Schuon, a biannual Syracuse resident and ultimate lover of Salt City Coffee, enthusiastically relates her love of holiday themed coffee.

She says, there’s nothing like a holiday celebration to draw in customers and engage community members.

When asked about the market in general she made a point to list her favorite drink, the Valencia latte of course, but also relayed this. A holiday is a perfect opportunity for people of all backgrounds and ethnicities to come together.

“Absolutely. I think that everyone likes a fun holiday where you can dress up, and where there are traditions, so I think it’s a great way to draw in customers,” Schuon said.

With all the hardship in the world and the trials of day-to-day life, a holiday with a multiple-day celebration is never not looked forward to. St. Patrick’s Day welcomes the luck and puts a charmed spin on your week. So, if you’re tempted to go check out some Irish themed merch or throw some green on “well” you won’t be the only one.
