SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC NEWS) – A new bagel shop opened up on the corner of Marshall Street and University Avenue. An Ithaca-based, family business, Collegetown Bagels is already super busy after opening up on Syracuse’s campus last Wednesday.

Collegetown replaces the Schoolyard Bagels on Marshall Street, which closed last month.

With a myriad of bagel options, gluten-free foods, and freshly-squeezed orange juice, students have a lot of choices when they go to Collegetown Bagels. Currently, they open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 3:00 p.m. Their goal is to be open earlier, and close later.

“As we staff up and have enough people to cover longer hours. Were planning on hopefully being open, from early, seven in the morning, until, maybe midnight, maybe 2 a.m.,” Collegetown Bagels owner Miles Brous said.

Students are already appreciating business’s hospitality, and willingness to be understanding of people’s dietary restrictions.

“I’m gluten free so, they wanted to make sure that there wasn’t any cross-contamination, and they even threw in a extra hash brown which was really nice,” Syracuse student Olivia Stockmeyer said, who went to Collegetown Bagels earlier today.

With locations accessible to students at Cornell and Ithaca College, Collegetown Bagels’ arrival on Syracuse’s campus aims to fortify its brand in Central New York around college’s.
