FAYETTEVILLE, N.Y. (NCC News) – Brek Twomey wasn’t going to let this day pass without visiting the Holiday Maple Downs election poll in Fayetteville.

Twomey says he is concerned about the direction of democracy in the local community and it’s important for people to vote because they have the power to shape the future.

“Things are changing fast,” Twomey said. “The power seems to be taken from the citizen daily here, from losing control of democracy and our freedoms that were assigned to us by the Constitution years ago.”

Twomey says that every vote matters and that those who stay home risk losing influence over the direction of the local community.

“Every moment counts,” Twomey said. “The more people we can get to the polls and try to voice what is good for the individual people of the country instead of the giant corporations that seem to be running rough shot through everything.”

Twomey added that there isn’t a better time to start a change.

“The time is now to make your voice heard before changes happen on such a level that we can’t get it back,” Twomey said. “It’s kind of a now or never moment.”

Miguel Freire: One voter in Central New York is growing concerned about the direction of democracy in the local community, and how much power citizens still have in shaping it.

Brek Twomey: Things are changing fast. The power seems to be taken from the citizen daily here, from losing control of democracy and our freedoms that were assigned to us by the Constitution years ago.

Freire: For the people that don’t vote, Twomey says while the process may not be fun or exciting, they should vote before changes happen on a level that citizens can’t change back.

Twomey: Every moment counts. It seems here that the more people we can get to the polls to try to voice what is good for the individual people of the country, instead of the giant corporations that seem to be running rough shot through everything.

Freire: Twomey adds the time to vote and make your voice heard is now. Miguel Freire. NCC News.
