DEWITT, N.Y. (NCC News) — Peter Giaquinto has voted in every election since he was 18 years old, but this was the first time he brought his son, Peter Michael Jr., out to the polls.

Peter Michael and his father have different priorities today.

“The only issue really important to him right now is his nap. I feel like for me, it’s kind of common, but I feel like border security for me is a big thing,” said Giaquinto.

Giaquinto says he wants to teach his son, who turned three years old the day before the election, why it is important to vote.

“I just think it’s important for me to cast my vote and make sure that I teach my kids to vote and make sure that my voice is heard because I think that a lot of people nowadays feel like their voice doesn’t matter and their voice isn’t heard. I feel like it’s important to vote to prove that it is,” said Giaquinto.

After walking inside to vote, Giaquinto was informed that he had gone to the wrong polling place. He was later directed to the proper polling site by poll workers.
