SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News) — Central New York voters are making their way to the polls today, spurred by the pressing issues of women’s rights, healthcare, and reproductive freedom. Many say they’re casting ballots with a sense of urgency, aware of the significant impact this election could have on their lives and the lives of future generations.

For parents like Chad Wright, the stakes couldn’t be higher. He said he’s voting for his daughters’ future.

“I have three daughters. I came out here to vote today on their behalf. For their future and for their healthcare,” said Wright.

Others feel just as strongly about the right to choose and ensuring reproductive freedom. Ava Hartley, a voter who came out early this morning, emphasized the importance of protecting women’s rights.

“The woman’s right to choose is, like, major, especially when it comes to rape and incest and, like, if you’re 12 years old, you know what I mean,” Hartley said.

As polling stations remain open across the state, voters are casting ballots on issues that affect the community’s core values: equality, healthcare access, and personal freedoms. Local leaders and advocates said today’s election could shape policies that impact women’s rights, healthcare, and reproductive freedom for years to come.

Election officials are urging voters to make their voices heard. Polls will be open until 9pm.
