Genae Horst: In a world where creativity is needed…now more than ever… Syracuse University is on the right track. The Newly minted Center for the Creator Economy launches in 2026 and celebrated its opening with the ‘Cuse Creator Con.

Horst: Qianna Smith Bruneteau, a panelist and founder of the American Influencer Council, says it’s imperative that young people experience different types of digital media and admire SU’s leading charge.

Qianna Smith Bruneteau: I really see this center being you know a blueprint for what it means to be a digital advertiser of the future.

Horst: For Kami Bremer, an accounting student who dreams of content creation in fashion, the venture bypasses her every expectation.

Kami Bremer: I think its amazing – I always joke about how I never actually thought I would end up at Syracuse and every year it proves to me it couldn’t be a better choice.

Horst: And Kami isn’t the only student who feels this way. Syracuse isn’t waiting for the future – it’s making it. These students aren’t just learning trends, they’re setting them.

Horst: Mosh Oinounou, founder of Mo News, says he applauds Syracuse for not only believing in the future but accepting that it’s the reality.

Mosh Oinounou: I think the fact that Syracuse is innovating in this way and creating this space is a recognition of where the world is and where the world is going.

Horst: Cuse Creator Con and the Center for Creator Economy shows us that the future of media is being built all around us… reporting for NCC News, I’m Genae Horst.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (NCC News)— For Syracuse University students, the business of creativity is about more than TikTok trends, likes or followers.

The university’s soon-to-be-launched Center for the Creator Economy, set to open in 2026, celebrated its debut with the ’Cuse Creator Con, drawing students, professionals and digital media leaders.

“It’s imperative that young people experience different types of digital media,” said Qianna Smith Bruneteau, a panelist at the event and founder of the American Influencer Council. “I really see this center being a blueprint for what it means to be a digital advertiser of the future.”

For Kami Bremer, an accounting student who hopes to become a content creator in fashion, the new center exceeded her expectations.

“I think it’s amazing. I always joke about how I never actually thought I would end up at Syracuse, and every year it proves to me how it couldn’t be a better choice,” Bremer said.

And Bremer is not alone. Students at the University are not just learning about digital trends — they are making them in real time. A joint venture between Whitman and Newhouse, the future of digital storytelling is literally in the hands of students.

Mosh Oinounou, founder of Mo News, said he applauds Syracuse for not only believing in the future of digital media but also embracing it.

“I think it’s very forward-thinking that Syracuse is acknowledging reality,” Oinounou said. “The fact that Syracuse is innovating in this way and creating this space is a recognition of where the world is and where it is going.”

’Cuse Creator Con and the Center for the Creator Economy demonstrate that the future of media is being built all around us.
