Eddie McCarthy: Meet six-year-old Victoria Wells. Today, she’s up bright and early. Her parents are bringing her with them to vote

Michael Wells: We feel it’s important to do this and best to instill in them an understanding as to what we’re doing and why.

McCarthy: Victoria watches her mother check in, get her ballot and start to fill it out. She even offers a suggestion just to make sure mom didn’t miss anything. Then, it’s time to scan, send and leave. And while there may only be local races on the ballot this year, Victoria’s dad says that’s no excuse to stay home.

Wells: This is the stuff that impacts us the most, so it’s just as important as the federal stuff.

McCarthy: But because she has the day off from school, she wanted to get home to tend to some other pressing matters.

Victoria Wells: I have a dolly that has a bunch of hair that needs to be smoothened out, so I think I’m gonna work on that a little too.”

Baldwinsville, N.Y. (NCC News) — Six-year-old Victoria Wells was up bright and early Tuesday morning, ready to tag along with her parents on Election Day.

Her father, Michael Wells, an engineer technologist, said he wants his daughter to see firsthand how the process works.

“We feel it’s important to do this and best to instill in them an understanding as to what we’re doing and why,” Wells said.

Victoria watched closely as her mom checked in, received her ballot and began to fill it out – even offering a few suggestions along the way.

2025 is not considered a major election year, because there are no federal races on the ballot. However, Wells said that’s no reason to stay home.

“This is the stuff that impacts us the most, so it’s just as important as the federal stuff,” he said.

Since it’s Election Day, Victoria has the day off from school. She already had the rest of her day planned out.

“I have a dolly that has a bunch of hair that needs to be smoothened out, so I think I’m going to work on that a little too,” she said.
